Hi, I'm Kazi. I build thoughtful
software.

I'm a software engineer at Temple University finishing my M.S. in Computer Science. I like turning messy operational problems into quiet, reliable systems — CRMs, reconciliation tools, monitoring dashboards, the occasional AR experiment.

Kazi Niaz Ahmed

A developer who came in through the back door.

I started in business school — a double major in MIS and Finance — and along the way kept finding myself building the thing instead of writing about it. By the time I graduated, I'd cleaned 60+ data files for a research nonprofit, prototyped a credit risk system at a bank in Dhaka, and competed in (and won) the AIS National Data Analytics Challenge.

Today I work as a Software Engineer at Temple University, where I get to build the kind of internal tools that quietly run a campus — a custom CRM in PHP, Flask APIs that move grades between systems without a single human in the loop, Java apps for account reconciliation, and Grafana dashboards that cut our incident response time by 25%.

I'm finishing my M.S. in Computer Science at Temple in December 2026, and I'm open to talking about full-time engineering roles starting then.

Where I've worked.

A mix of higher-ed engineering, enterprise architecture, and analyst stints — each one taught me something different about how systems actually break in the real world.

Leading the buildout of a custom CRM in PHP & JavaScript that integrates with the university's central registration system. On the side, shipping Flask APIs that fully automate grade transfers, a Java-based account reconciliation app, and standing up Grafana so we can actually see what's going on.

Temple University · Continuing Education Systems Philadelphia, PA

Wrote 30+ complex SQL queries for cross-platform analyses that informed how departments planned their marketing. Built a transcript generator on Power Apps + Power Automate + SQL that cut turnaround by 40%, and chipped away at day-to-day tickets across Temple's CE registration system.

Enterprise Architecture Intern

Jun 2019 — Aug 2019
AmerisourceBergen (now Cencora) Chesterbrook, PA

Analyzed 10+ datasets in Power BI to surface the company's core competencies and built an interactive PowerApps tool that helped managers decide which internal apps to keep — and which to retire.

Business Analyst Intern

Jun 2018 — Aug 2018
Southeast Bank Limited Dhaka, Bangladesh

Assessed the bank's existing Credit Risk Grading system, interviewed managers for non-functional requirements, and prototyped the proposed upgrade in Justinmind.

Research Intern

Jan 2018 — May 2018
Research for Action Philadelphia, PA

Cleaned and reshaped 60+ Pennsylvania school data files in Stata for the PACER project, and wrote reusable code templates across six data categories — cutting data cleaning time by roughly half.

Things I've built on the side.

Independent projects, mostly tools I wanted to exist. Each one started as a problem I was actually trying to solve.

Notes from the workbench.

Occasional posts on what I'm building, what I'm learning, and the small engineering decisions that turn out to matter more than I expected.
